Inflation Drops 1.4% in 2016

AMMAN —Al Ghad— The overall inflation index in Jordan took a 1.4 per cent drop during the first half of the year 2016, compared to figures from the same duration in 2015, according to reports published by the Statistics Department, factored mainly by drops in the Transportation, by 7 per cent, meats and poultry, by 8.1 per cent, fuel and lighting, by 7.8 per cent, vegetables and legumes, by 7.2 per cent, as well as fruits and nuts, decreasing 4.7 per cent.

On the up side, rents took a 3 per cent leap, as well as entertainment, clothes, and tobacco, by 5.1, 3.6, and 1.6 per cent, respectively.

All in all, the report shows the median consumption prices has decreased by 2.2 per cent, compared to the first 6 months of 2015.
