IRBID — Director of the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) with the Public Security Directorate (PSD), Gen Anwar Tarawneh, stated during the graduation ceremony of the Anti-Narcotics associates programme on Tuesday, under his patronage, that the cultivation and farming of weeds and marijuana, or any other kind of drugs, is not present in Jordan, and that no area in the Kingdom is intractable to the Anti-Narcotics Department, reassuring that cultivating any forms of narcotics is strictly prohibited.

More so, Tarawneh highlighted that the numbers and figures at hand confirm the problems of drug use are under control, and that they remain within medians from previous years, in spite demographic expansion, underlining hopes that reinforced punishments and legal procedures would contribute positive results in countering drugs issues, especially in light of the newly enacted law, pointing to importance of the role of the Civil Society in the cultural and awareness aspects of these issues.

Tarawneh also noted that condensed awareness campaigns will launch in Universities, collages, and schools across Jordan with the beginning of the new school year.
