Energy Ministry, Fajr Company Sign Gas Agreement

AMMAN — The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources signed with Jordanian Egyptian Fajr Company for Natural Gas Transmission & Supply, an agreement on the sale and purchase of liquefied natural gas to provide Jordanian industries with 70 million cubic feet of natural gas. The agreement was signed by Director General of the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) Abdul Fattah Daradkeh and Chairperson Fajr Company for Fouad Rashad in the presence of Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ibrahim Saif and a number of officials.

Under the deal, NEPCO will sell liquefied natural gas to the Jordanian Egyptian Fajr for Natural Gas Transmission & Supply through Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Terminal in Aqaba.

In a press statement following the signing ceremony, the minister of energy and mineral resources highlighted the importance of the agreement in addressing challenges facing national industries, reducing costs and increasing competitiveness of national industries. He expected that the deal will cut the energy bill of national industries by 20 percent, noting that the Fajr Company will later sign agreements with other industries to provide them with natural gas.
