Energy Minister Discusses Cooperation with US Congress Delegation

AMMAN — Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Ibrahim Saif on Monday, discussed with member of the United States House of Representatives Committee on Energy and Commerce Joe Pitts and the accompanying delegation, Jordanian-US ties as well as means to further boost them, mainly in the energy field.

The minister reviewed economic challenges facing the Kingdom in the energy sector due to the rising energy costs, as well as efforts being exerted by the government to diversity energy resources.

He said the government is implementing through the ministry, the energy sector strategy that seeks to boost domestic energy resources, including renewable energy.

Saif also spoke about major projects implemented by the Kingdom including solar energy projects, the liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal in Aqaba, the Jordanian nuclear reactor and the shale oil production project.

The two sides highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and the US as well as cooperation in various fields.
