AMMAN — The Independent Elections Commission (IEC) chairman Khaled Kalaldeh met with the heads of Jordan’s constituency committees on Saturday and stressed staff training comprises "the pivot" of the electoral process.

During the meeting, part of preparations for the September 20 parliamentary elections, Kalaldeh commended the efforts of the committees and sub-committees in the field, urging partnership and cooperation with various authorities to conduct free and fair polls.

Emphasis was laid on activating channels of communication between the IEC and cadres working in the field to ensure the readiness of polling and vote-counting centres and closely coordinate with the Ministries of public works and housing and education.

The IEC chief urged the committees to monitor campaign propaganda that are in violation of regulations and coordinate with executive authorities to remove them.
