CAIRO — Egyptian President Abdul Fattah Sisi received Jordan Prime Minister Hani Mulqi at Ittihadiya Palace in Cairo on Wednesday, in the presence of Egyptian Prime Minister, Minister of Defence and Military Production, and Jordan's Ambassador in Cairo, to discuss means to strengthen ties and look into the realisation of the results of joint cooperation efforts.

Mulqi said the exchange of bilateral visits reflects the strong will of both sides to forge closer ties between Jordan and Egypt. Both the Egyptian president and Mulqi hailed the meetings of the Joint Jordanian-Egyptian Higher Committee that were held in Cairo earlier on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of translating the results of the committee's meetings into reality to boost bilateral cooperation at all levels.

They also welcomed the signing of documents on cooperation that covered a number of fields.

On the current Arab situation, Sisi and Mulqi stressed the position of both Jordan and Egypt that calls for reaching political settlement to crises in a number of Arab countries to preserve their national institutions, and pave the way for reconstruction to encourage refugees to return to their homes.

They also highlighted the need to continue efforts to develop the Arab League as it will effectively contribute to efforts to achieve Arab economic integration as well as development in the Arab world through boosting joint Arab action.
