MED-ENEC Energy Efficiency Report Cites Jordan 2nd in MENA Region

AMMAN —Al Ghad— The Energy Efficiency in the Construction Sector in the Mediterranean (MED-ENEC) report; a regional project funded by the European Union, aimed at the increase of the adaptation of Energy Efficiency measures and Renewable Energy systems in buildings in southern and eastern Mediterranean countries, ranked Jordan 2nd in the MENA region in this field.

The report indicates that 8 countries in the Middle East region have made considerable progress in the spheres of adopting efficient energy measures and renewable energy developments, including Jordan, Tunisia, Morocco, Algeria, Lebanon, and Palestine, as well as other measures to improve consumption efficiency in these regards.

Additionally, the EU has previously agreed to fund Jordan with 90 million euros to support the renewable energy sector in the Kingdom, inclusive in the 2015 aids schedule, to be distributed across several sectors, with 47.5 million allocated to supporting public expenditure on these developments in the budget.
