AMMAN — Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh, on Saturday, met with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) special envoy, Angelina Jolie, who is currently visiting Jordan to check on Syrian refugees camps, Syrian families living in Jordan and some medical centres that serve refugees.

During the meeting, the minister highlighted King Abdullah's efforts, to find solutions to refugee crises worldwide and the Syrian crisis in particular, through his participation in the Leaders' Summit on Refugees, hosted by US President Barack Obama in New York, on September 20, in which Jordan is a "co-host", alongside with the United States and five other countries.

This summit will issue a set of commitments to mitigate the impact of refugee crises on host countries.

Judeh and the UN envoy discussed humanitarian repercussions of the Syrian crisis on countries in the region and Jordan in particular, highlighting services the Kingdom is offering for more than one million Syrians in Jordan.

He also welcomed the Russian - US agreement on a cease-fire in Syria that begins on Monday, expressing hope that this agreement could contribute to pave the way to a comprehensive political process that ensures the end the conflict in Syria.

Julie expressed appreciation for Jordan's positive role that it performs on behalf of the international community in order to reduce the human suffering of the Syrian people, calling upon the international community to support and assist Jordan in hosting Syrian refugees fleeing from the war.
