Under the 2016 Elections Law, 15 seats are reserved for women's quota, nine for Christians and three for Chechens and Circassians.

The country is divided into 23 districts, and voters choose candidates from competing lists in their district. Voters can select one or more candidates on a list.

According to official statistics, more than 800,000 Jordanians are working outside the Kingdom. Tens of thousands others are also studying abroad and are registered as voters but can't cast their votes according to the elections law.
