AMMAN —Al Ghad— His Majesty King Abdullah II presided the Jordanian delegation to the United Nation’s 71st General Assembly convention, held on Tuesday September 20th, 2016, coinciding with Jordan’s first Parliamentary-Representative polls since the new Election law was ratified, which counts as a major triumph for Jordan, His Majesty said during His speech addressing the Assembly, in New York.

This, the Monarch said about the elections, outlines yet another phase successfully concluded in such regional conditions, comprising a monumental challenge overcome by Jordan, which marks a true victory for Jordan and Jordanians, and a step forward on the path to betterment, evolution, and change.

His Majesty also addressed the Assembly on issues relating the culminating pressures of the Syrian refugee crisis on Jordan and the region, the Syrian civil conflict, and its percussions, the situation in Iraq, as well as on the importance of combatting terrorism, and securing peace via political resolution as powers conspire in the region and beyond to weaken the values that bring together humanity.

The King urged leaders of the world to come together and work hand in hand to salvage innocent lives driven to ruin by the malice of evil and terrorism, and restore peace to the troubled regions of the world, and share in their responsibility towards humanity.

The Jordanian delegation to the UN’s assembly included Deputy Prime Minister State Minister for Foreign Affairs, His Majesty’s Chief of Office, Jordan’s permanent UN delegate, and the Kingdom’s Ambassador to Washington.
