AMMAN — The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, organized a two-day workshop on the global environment advocacy in Jordan.

The UNDP said in a press release that the training session, part of the Crosscutting Capacity Development program (CCCD), seeks to bridge the institutional boundaries and address systemic crosscutting national environmental management issues being implemented through "Mainstreaming Rio Convention Provisions into National Sectorial Policies" project.

It said the UNDP and the environment ministry aim, through this training workshop, to sharpen the focus of the project’s endeavours on the awareness and training modules that will serve to allow concerned line ministries and other relevant practitioners and stakeholders to sustain and replicate Rio convention mainstreaming exercises to current sectors and beyond.

The training aims at providing participants with the required knowledge and skills on how to advocate the global environment in Jordan, it pointed out.

The workshop, the statement said, followed a participatory approach process that brought together representatives of government, NGOs and other stakeholder actors to explore ways to gain support for all environment-related issues.
