Israeli Occupation Arrest 26 Palestinians, Settlers Storm Aqsa Compound

RAMALLAH — More than 30 Jewish settlers Wednesday morning broke into the Aqsa compound through the Magharbeh gate, according to a Palestinian official, in addition to the arrest of 26 Palestinians, from various West Bank cities and the old city of Jerusalem, including a Hamas member of the Palestinian Legislative Council, the Palestinian Prisoner's Club said.

The Club Stated that Israeli soldiers stormed the West Bank cities of Hebron, Ramallah, Nablus, Bethlehem as well as a number of neighbourhoods in east Jerusalem and arrested the citizens, including a Palestinian law maker, Mohammad Jamal Natsheh, aged 57, who was arrested at his house in Hebron in an Israeli raid.

A for the incursion against Aqsa, Head of Islamic Affairs and Jerusalem Awqaf Department, Sheikh Azzam Khatib told Petra's reporter in Ramallah that the extremist settlers stormed the compounds, under the protection of the Israeli police, and performed their Talmudic rites and provocatively roamed the courtyards of the Muslim's holy shrine.

A state of tension prevailed inside the holy shrine, where Muslim worshippers confronted the intruders by chanting religious slogans, Sheikh Azzam added.
