Germany Agrees to a 237m Euro Aid for Jordan

AMMAN — The Minister of Planning and International cooperation Emad Fakhouri stated in a press communique Monday that the German government has ratified the provision of 272.7 million Euros in aid for Jordan, in 2016, as part of the pledged funding for Jordan.

The aid includes a 146 million Euro grant and an additional 56.7 million Euro fund to support host country priorities via primary projects including water supplies, drainage and sewerage, as well as schools and power grids.

The remainder of the fund, at 70 million euros will be provided in facilitated credit and loans via the German construction to support developmental progress in alignment with the 2016-2018 executive development framework.

In total, Fakhouri described the German fund to Jordan as the largest by Germany in Jordanian history, compared as well to the bulk of aids provided over the last 4 years, during which the totality of support delivered over the years 2012-2015 has reached 395.45 million euros.
