PM Visits Southern Governorate of Maan

MAAN — Prime Minister Hani Mulqi, accompanied by a ministerial team, visited on Monday the southern Maan governorate, where he wet with public and official figures.

The visits came within field visits carried out by the government in implementation of the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah II to check on the needs of citizens in all governorates across the Kingdom.

During a meeting at Al Hussein Bin Talal University in Maan city, Mulqi said the visit comes at a very important time, as the coming weeks will witness discussions with the Lower House of Parliament. He said if the government wins the House's confidence, it will start working on the 2017 budget, noting that budget should reflect the aspirations and hopes of citizens.

"Next year, each governorate will define by itself the priorities through the Decentralization Law," he said, adding that this will come through your representatives in the Lower House in the 2018 budget.

Mulqi pointed to a number of projects that will be carried out in Maan in the date that has been set for them with the allocated funds.

He also spoke about the urgent rehabilitation for the desert highway, noting that maintenance work that have been carried out on the desert highway were temporary.

The prime minister highlighted the importance of the land port project that will be implemented in Maan, as it will link Asia with Africa through Sinai with the Port of Aqaba, Saudi Arabia and Gulf Arab countries.
