AMMAN — Jordan voiced hope that the battle to liberate the Iraqi city of Mosul will be a model for will and alliance in countering terrorism and rooting out the Daesh terrorist group that represents one of the ugliest images of killing, spreading chaos and distorting religion and civilization.

State Minister for Media Affairs and the Government Spokesperson Mohammad Momani, said in a statement that the liberation of Mosul from the Daesh terrorist group forms a decisive stage in eradicating the terrorist group in Iraq and other places where it has presence.

Momani expressed hope that this objective will be achieved as soon as possible, so that the citizens of Mosul will not suffer for a long time just like they did over the past two years.

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Abadi announced earlier the start of military operations to liberate Mosul with the participation of the Iraqi armed forces and the support of the international coalition against Daesh
