FM, UN Envoy Discuss Situation in Yemen

AMMAN — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh, discussed with The United Nations' envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, the latest developments in Yemen and ways to address the Yemeni crisis.

The two officials also reviewed the humanitarian and security situation in Yemen, as well as efforts to reach a political solution to the crisis in the country.

Judeh and the UN envoy stressed their keenness to boost cooperation between Jordan and various UN agencies to serve regional and global issues.

The foreign minister affirmed Jordan's support to the role shouldered by the UN to achieve peace and security in Yemen.

Judeh said that Jordan contributed during membership in the UN Security Council, in drafting Security Council Resolution on Yemen 2216. He called for a full implementation of the resolution to help in restoring stability in Yemen and preserving its territorial integrity.

The UN envoy highlighted the importance of Jordan's pivotal role under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II to bring about security and stability in the region, and address challenges facing the region and the world.
