AMMAN — Queen Mathilde of Belgium, currently on a visit to Jordan, late Sunday discussed with Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs Nasser Judeh, bilateral ties and issues of common concern including the refugees and education.

During the meeting, the queen expressed her country's appreciation of Jordan's efforts in hosting and serving the Syrian refugees, urging at the same time international community to shoulder its responsibilities in helping the Kingdom to enable it to continue this humanitarian duty.

Queen Mathilde highlighted the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries in various domains, stressing her country’s support to Jordan’s efforts to achieve security and stability in the region.

Jordan is not only providing safe shelter for the fleeing refugees, but also contributes to saving a generation of Syria's children, who are expected to do their part fully after the end of war and reaching a political solution in their country, Judeh explained.

Judeh reiterated appreciation of Belgium's support to the Kingdom, and tackled the burden shouldered by Jordan as a result of hosting a large number of Syrian refugees, who are placing an increasing pressure on the Kingdom's infrastructure, education, health, energy and water sectors.

The two sides stressed the importance to follow-up on the outcomes of the London Conference with the donor countries to support Jordan and enable it to continue shouldering the refugee burden on behalf of the world.

They also urged to support Jordan's economy enable it to provide education to more than 165 thousand Syrian children living now in the country.
