King Calls upon World to Follow in Canada’s Footsteps and Take Responsibility in the Refugee Crisis

AMMAN — His Majesty King Abdullah II and General Governor of Canada, David Johnston, met at the Husseiniya Palace in Amman on Monday to extensively discuss reinforcing bilateral ties between Jordan and Canada, as well as recent global and regional development.

The meeting featured annual Canadian aid to Jordan, which amounts to USD40 million up until October, 2016.

His Majesty, reassuring the historic and close relations Jordan and Canada mutually enjoy, welcomed Governor Johnston’s visit, and expressed looking forward to conducting fruitful deliberations on prospect developments of relations. The Monarch expressed appreciation of Canada’s role and urged other countries around the world to take part in the responsibility towards refugees and the region’s turmoil, the way Canada does.
