AMMAN —Al Ghad— The General Director of the Department of Archaeology, Dr Munther Jamhawi, stated to “Al Ghad” that the total worth of archaeological land sites under acquisition by the Department from citizens amounts to roughly JOD34 million, in total, with the Department’s annual allocations for acquisition do not exceed JOD400 thousand.

The Department made a request to the Treasury to cover the value of the acquisitions. The Ministry of Finance responded demanding of the department to cover all dues for acquisition off its own budget within 5 years.

Dr Jamhawi explained that the department’s allocations are insufficient, as some acquisition have not been paid off since 1990.
