Financial Requirements Short 59% to Support Syrian Refuge in Jordan

AMMAN —Al Ghad— The Jordan Response Platform to the Syria Crisis (JRPSC) states that the current year, 2016, has seen the financing of only 41.3 per cent of the financial requirements to support the weight of the Syrian Refuge Crisis in Jordan, at USD1.099 billion, out of the estimated USD2.657 billion.

Over the last two months, financial aid has risen by 10 per cent, roughly, until November, from the previous 37.5 per cent.

The Response platform estimated the 2016-2018 costs of supporting the Refuge crisis in Jordan by USD8.2 billion, between supporting Syrian refugees, local communities, and the State’s budget, whereas the cost over the last 5 years (2011-2015) has been estimated at roughly USD6.6 billion, as Jordan hosts 1.4 million Syrian refugees, comprising 20 per cent of the Kingdom’s population.
