AMMAN — Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Lena Enab heads Jordan's delegation to the International Tourism Fair "FITUR 2017" started Wednesday in Spain's capital, Madrid.

A statement by Jordan Tourism Board (JTB), said that representatives of Jordan's private and public are taking part in this global meeting, which represents a hub for all people, leaders and agencies interested in boosting tourism industry.

The five-day meeting brings together some 9,000 exhibiting companies representing more than 160 countries with over 100 thousand visitors, the statement added.

Head of the Arab Tourism Organization (ATO), Bandar Bin Fahad Fuhaid said that the organization is seeking to implement a number of programs to boost and develop medical tourism in Arab countries such as Jordan, who has a number of medical tourism destinations such as the Dead Sea.

Despite having potential in its medical infrastructure, Arab countries spend a whopping $27 billion annually on medical treatment abroad, he explained.
