January 2017: Inbound Expat Remittance Up 4.2%, Income from Tourism Up 12.2%

AMMAN —AlGhad— Data issued by the Central Bank of Jordan (CBJ) show that inbound remittance by Jordanian Expats in gross for January, 2017, has increased to roughly USD296 million, up 4.2 per cent from January-2016’s USD210 million, a 4.4 per cent drop at the time, from January the year before.

On the other hand, income from inbound tourism in January, 2017, as well has increased by 12.2 per cent, at approximately USD368 million, around JOD261 million, compared to the drop by 6.3 per cent back in January, 2016.

Mostly, the rise in tourism income is due to the increase in in-house tourism by 8.7 per cent, to 339.2 thousand tourists, as opposed to 312.2 thousand in January 2016.
