Public Debt Increased JOD17.8b in 15 Years; nearly 300%

AMMAN —AlGhad— Over the last 15 years, public debt in Jordan has increased by nearly JOD17.8 billion under 11 government, from the year 2001 until 2016, up from JOD6.68 billion to JOD24.4 billion, comprising 88.9 per cent of the Kingdom’s GDP, as opposed to 98.4 per cent in 2003.

According to official figures, the only reason debt to GDP ratios went down was economic growth, whereas Debt was incrementally rising.
