League Representatives Adopt Jordan’s Draft Resolution on Syrian Refugee Crisis

AMMAN — Arab League permanent representatives and senior officials on Saturday, adopted during a meeting at the Dead Sea to prepare for the Arab foreign ministers meeting ahead of the 28th Arab Summit, a draft resolution presented by Jordan on the Syrian refugee crisis.

Under the draft resolution, the Arab League Council will be entrusted to put a specific mechanism to assist Syria's Arab neighbouring countries as well as other Arab countries hosting Syrian refugees to enable them to shoulder the burden resulting from hosting those refugees.

The draft resolution affirms that the presence of Syrian refugees in host countries in temporary, and calls for creating the relevant conditions to ensure their return home as soon as possible through collective work.

It also urges the international community especially donor countries and institutions to shoulder their responsibilities and provide more aid to the host countries of the Syrian refugees.
