IRBID —AlGhad— Dozens of day labourers, employed by the University of Yarmouk, in the north Jordanian governorate of Irbid, held a protest at the University’s head office over the Legislation and Opinion Bureau’s advisement that they do “not have the right to and End of Service Benefit”.

While labourers amass on campus, President of the Yarmouk University, Dr Rifaat Rifai, met the protestors, and confirmed to them that a decision has not been made.

The EOSB system calculated the benefit worth of a month’s salary for every year of 5 years of service, a month and half’s salary for year between 5 and 10 years, two months’ salaries for every year between 10 and 15, and three months’ worth of salaries for every year after the 15th year.

Notably, many of the day labourers at the University of Yarmouk have spent years at the University, some more than 20 years, and several between 5 and 15.
