AMMAN —AlGhad— The International Monetary Fund (IMF)’s mission, under Mr Martin Cerisola, has returned to Amman today, Tuesday, to conclude reviews of the Jordanian national economy, after the IMF and the World Bank (WB) adjourned their Spring convention sessions.

The mission was last in Amman in Amman March 5-9, to inspect the progress of the extended credit facilitation programme, but the reviews were inconclusive.

Notably, the IMF has demanded of the Jordanian government to increase public revenues by nearly JOD550 million this year, 2017.

Whether or not the government will meet the terms of the next programme will be investigated in the upcoming meets between Jordanian and IMF officials.

Generally speaking, Jordan’s GDP growth rate is not expected to reach the set projections.

On that, the IMF mission will also convene with the Cabinet and the economic team to explore available options at hand.
