DEAD SEA — A World Bank official said Saturday that Jordan is partnering to join reconstruction in war-ravaged countries in the region, and urged the Jordanian private sector to build alliances with counterparts in the Arab states.

Abdullah Dardari, senior advisor on reconstruction in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) division of the World Bank, said countries in need of reconstruction needed huge amounts of funds, adding that the World Bank offers counsel and financial support to forge reconstruction strategies with the participation of these countries' governments.

Jordan, he said, had been largely impacted by regional crises, and that the country's low growth rates are an evidence of that.

He said Jordan had been working to join the reconstruction effort in regional states, adding that the World Bank is engaged in a bid to attract investment within the Jordan Impact, regarding the employment of Jordanians and Syrians. This endeavour, he said, needed support from the international community.

Dardari said Jordan will participate in the reconstruction of three countries, adding that dialogue is underway with Iraq, Libya and Yemen.

He said Jordan hosts a large number of refugees and had a role in providing healthcare, services, and even consultation, adding that the Kingdom's position in reconstruction in the MENA region is extremely important, referring to the Kingdom's skilled human resources.
