AMMAN —AlGhad— With the international deadline for the establishment of conflict-free zones in Syria nearing, Jordanian officials have confirmed the resumption of Russo-American negotiations in Amman, on the terms and provisions of the safe zone area south of Syria, along the borderline with Jordan.

News reports came in yesterday, Monday, on there being underway preparations for US and Russian officials to meet in Amman within days.

Jordanian officials, on their part, confirmed that the Kingdom is actively engaged in the mediation and facilitation of negotiations, next to its involvement as a stake-holding party of the underway effort to establish conflict free zones throughout Syria.

To AlGhad, officials have confirmed that the establishment of safe-zones along the Jordanian-Syrian borderline is in Jordan’s best interest.

It should tranquilise the borderline areas on the Syrian side, and give Jordan a chance to engage in a more constructive role in Syria.
