AMMAN —AlGhad— A ranking military official with the Jordanian Armed Forces headquarters made a statement yesterday, Monday, that several border control units have intercepted a drug smuggling attempt inbound from Syria, killing the two infiltrators.

The official has confirmed in the statement that the rules of engagement were enforced, leading to the shooting and death of the two perpetrators.

The smugglers were packing 50 thousand pills of tramadol, a prescription narcotic, trying to get them into Jordan.

Confiscated narcotics and contraband were handed over to the respective authorities for further legal processing and disposal.
