AMMAN —AlGhad— The government’s 2018-2022 Economic Stimulation Plan, ratified by the Cabinet last month, allocates up to JOD430 million to the implementation of automation and digitisation projects.

The projects include transformational shifts towards digital economy.

The allocation includes JOD175 million for the innovation of a digitisation platform for the national “2025” strategy launched in 2016.

Additionally, the plan includes a second government project, worth JOD115 million, to establish a national telecommunication infrastructure.

This project is aimed to link the main government departments and branches together all throughout the Kingdom via fibre-optics.

The plan includes several other projects, ranging from JOD5 million to JOD70 million each, allocated for developing e-government platforms, procedural upgrades, supporting infrastructures, as well as information security measures, and full-automation projects.

Notwithstanding, allocations were also set aside to train and familiarise civilians on how to use e-government services.
