Inflation Up 3.7% in 6 Months

AMMAN —AlGhad— The median consumer price index (inflation rate) has increased by 3.7 per cent during the first half of the year, 2017, compared to the same duration last year, according to the figures by the Department of General Statistics.

Transportation, vegetables, tobacco, entertainment, and rent have seen the highest increase in prices at 14.3, 14.2, 9.2, 9.6, and 2.2 per cent, respectively.

Meats and poultry, alongside fruits and clothing, as well as dairy and eggs, have taken a dip in prices over the first half of 2017, by 7, 4, 3.2, and 0.4 per cent, respectively.
