AMMAN —AlGhad— The Minister of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs, Ayman Safadi, stated twice, at two separate meets with ambassadors of the EU and Asia, that Israel’s retraction of newly imposed measures is key to restoring tranquillity in the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Israel must respect, Safadi said, the standing law of the Aqsa Mosque Complex, and uninstall all the newly enforced security measures and otherwise.

Collectively, as well as individually, every single Israeli enforcement, since Friday, has been an infringement of its legal and international liabilities and obligations, as an occupying power.

Else, Safadi underscored, the rising tension will be next to impossible to contain, and that is why Israel must, at once, fully reopen the Aqsa Mosque, without delay.

Meanwhile, Jordan will continue to pursue the restoration of peace and quite to Jerusalem, but that will only be attainable if Israel retracts its most recent violations.

Safadi also warned against maintaining the current course.

He explicitly stated that these measures are not sustainable, and that they will only build tension and deepen frustration.

This, according to Safadi, will give fundamentalists on both sides a chance to exploit the current friction.
