Amman Stocks Lose JOD340m so Far in 2017

AMMAN —AlGhad— The Amman Stock Exchange (ASE) index lost around JOD340 million in total market value since the beginning of the year, 2017, operating at its lowest levels in over 7 months, as the index dropped another 0.03 per cent yesterday, Monday, to a critical close of 2,114.99 points.

The Amman Bourse is suffering the lack of investor confidence, tracing back to the fall of 2008, with the breakout of the global financial crisis.

Market worth of stocks listed at the ASE before the 2008 Crisis stood at nearly JOD42 billion, which has since dropped to nearly JOD17 billion, this year’s losses included.
