PM: Reopening of Treibil Border Result of Intensive Cooperation

AMMAN — Prime Minister, Hani Mulqi, Wednesday said the reopening of the main border crossing with Iraq is a culmination of bilateral cooperation and common will to boost relations between the two countries.

He said the return of the Jordanian-Iraqi lifeline through the crucial post would not have been possible without defeating the terrorist Daesh group in Anbar, Mosul and Tal Afar by Iraqis.

The premier expressed hope that the reopening of the Treibil border crossing would provide an opportunity to promote trade, investment and two-way mobility without any impediments, urging the private sector in both countries to benefit from this positive step.

Mulqi also stressed Jordan's support of Iraq, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, in its fight against terrorism, quest to bring about peace and stability and re-establish state authority.

He said that the Karameh Border Crossing with Iraq remained ready-to-work since the Iraqi government was forced to close the Treibil post due to frequent attacks of terrorists and constant attempts to control it.

The prime minister also expressed appreciation of his Iraqi counterpart Haider Abadi and the government and people of Iraq for their efforts in opening the crucial post which would benefit both countries.
