AQABA —AlGhad— His Majesty King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Haakon of Norway visited Aqaba today, Thursday, to inaugurate the launch of the EU-Norway-funded greening project, Sahara.

Project Sahara runs on solar energy, reduces Carbon Dioxide in the air, reclaims ground water, and purifies seawater, and provides numerous job opportunities. Not to mention produce and energy.

This 4-stage project extends over a vast area, from the Gulf of Aqaba to the Araba Valley (Wadi Araba).

On the long run, Project Sahara will help rehabilitate the economy ahead of the Two-Seas Canal (Red Sea-Dead Sea).

More so, the establishment will employ no less than 800 Jordanians in various fields, and should expand agricultural greenscapes over the area of two million square metres.
