AlGhad — The lawyer advocating Lebanese celebrity “Fadel Shaker”, Zaina Masri, said that an acquittal is expected later on today, Thursday, especially in light of there being no sufficient evidence of Shaker’s participation in the Abra incidents.

For nearly five years, Shaker has been hiding. No one reportedly has seen him since.

With Fadel Shaker nowhere to be found, a trial in Absentia has been ongoing since 2012.

Among other defendants, the charges against the Lebanese artist range from partaking in the Abra incidents to bearing arms against the Lebanese army.

None of the defendants, however, have corroborated the claims, Masri said.

Without solid evidence at hand, Masri told AlGhad that there is absolutely no reason why Shaker’s case will not be dropped. Especially since Shaker severed all ties with Sheikh Ahmad Asir two months before the Abra incidents

There is precedence, she said, and therefore no reason why the case should stand.

Naim Abbas, another defendant in the Abra incidents case, was also acquitted of the same charges due to insufficient evidence, Masri underlined.
