SOUTH SHOUNA —AlGhad— A group of unknown gunmen opened fire at several power generators and facilities in the South Shouna district, damaging 15 generators, District Director Eng Mohammad Ryalat said in a press statement today, Monday.

The damage done to the generators and facilities caused a power outage in the entire district, he said, around midnight Sunday early Monday.

Eng Ryalat explained that these events may be in response to the National Electric Power Company (NEPCO)’s attempts to rectify and address power violations in the District.

On Sunday, the company launched a campaign to address an unaccounted cost estimated at some JOD7.8 million, due to the theft and illegal extensions in the area.
