AMMAN —AlGhad— A military source with the General Command of the Jordan Armed Forces — Arab Army said that the north eastern border watch units, in coordination with the Anti-Narcotics Department (AND), have managed to intercept and foil a massive drug smuggling attempt inbound from Syria.

Five people were spotted attempting to sneak in before dawn Sunday, when military units intercepted them, which led to the arrest of one and the injury of another.

Meanwhile, the rest of the smugglers were driven back into Syrian territory.

The rules of engagement were applied.

Some 440 thousand narcotic pills were retrieved from the site of the operation, in addition to 335 packages of Hashish, and a quantity of ammunition.
