AMMAN —AlGhad— The Minister of Labour, Eng Ali Ghzawi, stated earlier today, Saturday, at a meeting organised by the Jordan Chamber of Industry, that there are currently some 800 thousand foreign labourers in Jordan without permits.

According to the Minister, there are between 312 thousand and 350 thousand foreign labourers in Jordan, currently with working permits.

More effort must be put into containing illegal labour, the Minister explained, as it greatly helps organise the labour market and provide jobs for Jordanians.

Ghzawi stressed, during the meeting which was attended by the Minister of Trade, Industry and Supply, Eng Yaroub Qudah, that tighter procedures must be in place.
