Power Theft Defendant Fined JOD3.9m

AMMAN —AlGhad— The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) issued a JOD1.2 million-fine against the defendant in Jordan’s biggest power theft case, according to an informed source who spoke in anonymity.

The source confirmed that this sum is inclusive of all the estimated stolen power costs not including the theft fine.

He also confirmed that the fine was set in accordance to a comprehensive study conducted by the specialised department at the Electric Company.

Overall, the defendant was issued a fine of some JOD3.9 million, according to the source, including theft fines.

Notably, the extension wires used is the theft, alone, are worth roughly JOD300 thousand.
