House Speaker Receives Human Rights Report

AMMAN — Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Atef tarawneh on Wednesday received a copy of the National Centre for Human Rights (NCHR) report on the condition of human rights in Jordan during 2016.

Tarawneh received the report during a meeting with NCHR board of trustees’ chairman Mohammad Adnan Bakhit and commissioner general Mousa Burayzat.

The House speaker pledges to help in finding solutions to problems of human rights in the Kingdom, adding that the economic situation has negative reflection on all aspects of life including human rights. "This highlights the need for government programs that tackle reasons before results, he said, noting that all parties should carry out their national responsibilities to help in solving these problems.

Tarawneh affirmed that the House will study the report and refer its to specialized committees to take the necessary legislative action.
