Public Health Insurance Department JOD145m in Debt

AMMAN —AlGhad— Director of the Public Health Insurance Department, Dr Elham Khureisat, uncovered to AlGhad today, Sunday, that the department’s overall accounts payable stand at JOD144.897 million, as of 2017, in addition to accrued payables from 2016, at around JOD48.5 million.

Meanwhile, the Department’s receivables stand at some JOD212.2 million, including allocations worth around JOD97 million.

According to the latest government statistics, some 46 per cent of Jordan’s 6.8 million citizens are registered beneficiaries of the public health insurance programme.

27 per cent of the programme’s remaining beneficiaries are military personnel, 8.5 per cent under the UNRWA, 6 per cent corporate accounts, 3 per cent are registered insurance funds and 1 per cent are university students.
