UAE Support USD220m-Renewable Energy Project in Jordan

AMMAN — Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Jordan Matar Shamsi announced that a USD220 million renewable energy project will be implemented in Jordan as part of the UAE support to the Kingdom in the renewable energy field.

In a statement to Jordan News Agency, Petra on the 46th anniversary of the UAE's national day, he highlighted the strong ties between Jordan and the UAE that are progressively developing thanks to His Majesty King Abdullah II and UAE President Sheikh Khalifah Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The ambassador spoke about his country's support to Jordan through various projects it carries out in the Kingdom including the Marsa Zayed and Saraya Aqaba projects in Aqaba being implemented by a UAE company with investments totalling at USD12 billion. "The two projects will provide thousands of job opportunities for Jordanians once they are completed," he added.

The ambassador said that the volume of UAE investments in the Kingdom currently stands at USD16 billion, pointing to the presence of Jordanian businessmen in the UAE who carry out major projects in the country.

"Both Jordan and the UAE see eye to eye on various issues, including the fight against terrorism and the situation in Yemen, Iraq and Palestine," he added.
