AMMAN —AlGhad— Sources within the House of Representatives have confirmed to AlGhad that the MPs are in confliction over the amendments to the subsidies and tax exemptions sections of the 2018 Budget Bill.

Apparently, there is a division among the MPs on whether to de-subsidise bread and lower the tax exemptions ceiling or not, according to MP Ahmad Safadi.

Safadi, who is head of the MP Committee, said that the discussion is still ongoing and that the MPs have not reached a decision.

Notably, the government has allocated some JOD171 million to compensate citizens for the dropping bread subsidies in the Budget.

Supposedly, the government intends to deliver the cash subsidies directly to 1.25 million families, including 5.2 million individuals.
