CAPITALS —AlGhad— US President Donal Trump contacted the Palestinian President, Mahmoud Abbas, today, Tuesday, to inform him of the US intention to relocate the American embassy from Tel Aviv to the occupied city of Jerusalem.

Palestinian news agency, Wafa, confirmed on behalf of the speaker Nabil Abu Rudainah that Abbas has reiterated to Trump that the consequences of the decision will be catastrophic.

Abu Rudainah added that the President’s position is unwavering, and that there will be Palestinian state without East Jerusalem.

He also stressed that failing to meet this term will mean the end of the Arab initiative for peace, and so will the US recognition of the occupied city as the capital of Israel.

Meanwhile, the White House, Monday evening, has announced that Trump has postponed the decision on the relocation until a conclusive decision is reached.

Notably, the US Congress, back in 1995, passed a bill to recognise Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, and is now pressing to execute the embassy’s relocation.
