AMMAN —AlGhad— The Secretary General of the Ministry of Tourism, Eisa Gamouh, stated to AlGhad that inbound tourism has increased by 8.9 per cent by the end of November 2017, compared to the same duration last year.

Sector indices, according to Gamouh, have contradicted all Global Tourism Organisation (GTO) expectations for the MENA region, he said.

The GTO expected that inbound tourism in the region will decline by 4 per cent on average.

Meanwhile, in-house tourism in these 11 months have increased by 9.5 percent to 3.911 million, compared to 3.574 million during the first 11 months of 2016.

The trend is expected to continue to increase in 2018, according to Gamouh, which also is contrary to the Organisation’s expectations.
