AMMAN —AlGhad— The House of Representatives began the 2018 Budget Bill debate today, Sunday, which is expected to conclude within days, if not by the end of the Sunday session.

The house will likely pass the General and Independent Government Unit Budget Bills for the upcoming year 2018.

Various reliable sources have confirmed that House has already dismissed a motion to reject the bill.

Overall, public revenues as estimated in the General Budget Bill at JOD8.496 billion include JOD700 million in grants, whereas Independent Government Units’ revenues are estimated at JOD1.812 billion, separate from the General Budget.

After bread de-subsidisation, direct cash support for Jordanians is estimated at JOD14.4 annually, per capita.

During the debates, blocs were each given 20 minutes to make their statements and Bloc members and independent MPs were each given seven.
