AMMAN —AlGhad— Numerous firearms were confiscated inside a house in Zarqa during a joint police taskforce raid earlier today, Wednesday, where two elephant tusks were found and sent to the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature, a police source told AlGhad.

Reports came in that a known felon was in possession of a quantity of unregistered and illegal weapons, the source said.

The police followed the tips they and put together a taskforce, he elaborated, to stake out the house before storming in.

When the tusks were examined, they turned out to be genuine ivory, each one metre long.

Genuine ivory is of high monetary value and is illegal to trade.

The detainee was charged on several counts and is scheduled to be transferred for further processing.
