AMMAN —AlGhad— An informed source with the government has confirmed to AlGhad that the Cabinet is currently considering extending the special tax exemptions on hybrid vehicles for another year at 25 per cent, as opposed to raising it to 55 per cent.

Alternatively, the source explained, the government is looking into revamping the hybrid vehicles exemptions, to possible lower the extended allowances.

A study conducted by the general association of car dealers indicates that the Treasury loses approximately JOD14 million to these hybrid vehicles tax exemptions every year.

Meanwhile, the number of cleared hybrid vehicles in 2017 has increased by 19.3 per cent, according to the statistic published by the commission of free trade zone investors.
