AMMAN —AlGhad— AES Jordan has agreed to fund the construction solar energy generation station project with a USD40 million, according to an informed source at the Jordanian company, under the name AM Solar BV/Jordan.

The fund is facilitated by a number of international companies, and covers 80 per cent of the project’s USD50 million-implementation cost.

Notably, AES Jordan is owned by the corporate coalition of Mitsui and AES Corporation, a Fortune 200 global power company.

Meanwhile, the above project is owned jointly by the two companies and Qatari “Nebras Co.” and will provide no less than 300 jobs in the construction phase.

AES Jordan also owns and operates two of the Kingdom’s four main electric power plants, which covers 25 per cent of the Kingdom’s power load.

Both plants operate on natural gas, as opposed to conventional fossil fuels, which has dipped the Kingdom’s consumption of conventional fuel by 56 per cent.
